Personnel for the science of the future
The House of Scientists named after Academician Anatoly P. Alexandrov hosted a meeting of the National Association of Scientific and Educational Organizations – Participants of International Megaprojects, as well as a meeting of the working group on training personnel for Federal Scientific and Technical Program for the Development of Synchrotron and Neutron Research and Research Infrastructure for 2019-2027. Addressing the participants of the meeting, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation Andrey Fursenko noted the importance of the work carried out by the Kurchatov Institute and the universities of the Association to train highly qualified personnel. He stated that Russia needs to train personnel focusing primarily on its own needs and based on this position to build approaches to the educational process. Andrey Fursenko expressed hope that the Kurchatov Institute "will be ready to take the initiative and carry out this work on its site," and wished all participants fruitful work.
The President of the Kurchatov Institute and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Association Mikhail Kovalchuk spoke in his report about the opportunities that the unique research infrastructure of the Kurchatov Institute opens up for young scientists and for science in general. He also noted the importance of consolidating scientific, technological and educational potential for the development of research programs in Russian universities.
Dmitry Afanasyev, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, co-head of the working group, stressed that it is important to develop programs for training specialists in the development, creation and operation of installations. During the meeting, a number of proposals were made to increase the amount of young professionals and improve their professional level.

In addition, it is proposed to develop additional educational programs, as well as a system of internships for young scientists in Russian and foreign research centers.
During the meeting it was mentioned that the activities of the Association today are not limited only to megascience facilities. "The Kurchatov Institute is already implementing a number of important state programs in various directions," said Andrey Nikolaenko, Deputy Director of the Center, Director of the Association, co–head of the working group.
